After days of long queues due to delays in passport  issuance at the Immigration and Emigration Department in Battaramulla,  the situation has drastically improved by yesterday, authorities said.  

People said that they were able to get their passports yesterday without any delays.  

Due to the delay in issuing passports, there were long  queues around the premises of the Immigration and Emigration Department  for several days.  

With a limited number of blank passports available, authorities began issuing 1,000 passports per day starting on Wednesday.   

Additionally, the police issued tokens in the order of arrival to those who had waited in queues for several days.
