• Vaccination programme for above 60 years to be expedited
• Home-based vaccination system to be strengthened

The Negombo municipal authorities have decided to expedite the vaccination programme for those above 60 years and to strengthen the home-based vaccination system, as a measure to reduce Covid fatalities, a statement said.   
Arrangements were made by the Negombo Municipal Council to provide the necessary transport facilities.
A special discussion was held at the Negombo Municipal Council on August 24 under State Minister Nimal Lanza regarding the steps to be taken in the future, to control the spread of the pandemic within the Negombo MOH Division. The event was attended by a group of health and safety officials.  
He instructed the relevant departments to take necessary measures to reduce the death toll of COVID-19 in the Negombo Medical Officer of Health Division and to strengthen the measures being taken to control the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
