essel ‘Barbara’ was arranged to re-ship six containers with 105 metric tonnes of crude coconut oil  last morning, Customs Deputy Director (Legal Affairs) and Media Spokesman Sudattha Silva said.

He said the crude coconut oil consignment that was brought to the South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) of the Colombo Port was re-freighted by Katana Refineries (Pvt) Ltd and the vessel left Colombo at 7.30 pm yesterday. 
The carcinogenic coconut oil bowsers were seized by the Dankotuwa police on March 30 following a tip-off that they contained substandard oil.   

The drivers of the two bowsers were also arrested by the Police.  

The initial tests carried out by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) revealed that imported crude coconut oil contained Aflatoxin.  

Upon receiving the report, the Customs Director-General had told the relevant companies to prepare to re-ship the contaminated coconut oil.
