Country has stock of over 10 Mn COVID-19 vaccines: State Minister



 

 

  • Govt. had to purchase over 6.8 million of jabs

The country has so far received a total of 10,172,800 COVID-19 vaccines, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana said today.   

He said the country had received a total of 1,264,000 of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines, 7.1 million of Chinese Sinopharm vaccines, 180,000 of Russian-made Sputnik V shots, 128,700 of US Pfizer-BioNTech and over 1.5 million of Moderna vaccines.   


“Among the total number of vaccines, over 3.3 million were received as donations while the Government had to purchase over 6.8 million of jabs,” he said.   


The State Minister also said that in the next couple of weeks, it was expected to receive 5.6 million more Sinopharm vaccines from China and 1.47 million of AstraZeneca jabs from Japan as a donation.
