The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has issued an order for the removal of protesters and structures that cause inconvenience to the public at Myna GoGama near Temple Trees.

The Court had issued the order on May 2 subsequent to a request made by Kollupitiya police alleging that the protesters were causing obstruction to pedestrians and regular vehicle movement since they installed temporary

structures in the vicinity.  When the matter came up before Colombo Additional Magistrate Manjula Ratnayake through a motion, the Additional Magistrate questioned the police as to why they failed to comply with the court order. Accordingly, the Additional Magistrate ordered the police to show cause, explaining as to why they failed to comply with the court order dated 2nd of May, 2022. The matter will be taken up again on May 9.
