Customs at CME recover foreign mail containing Kush, Mandy, Meth, Ice, Hashish worth over Rs.73Mn

Customs officials at the Central Mail Exchange (CME) yesterday opened a set of suspicious foreign mail received during the past few weeks to find a range of psychotropic drugs including Kush, Mandy, Meth, Ice and Hashish, which were valued at over Rs.73 million.  

 About 13 parcels, which had been detained by the Customs postal assessing officials, were examined in the presence of Customs Narcotic Control officials, Sri Lanka Postal Services officials and the Police Narcotic Bureau officials, where the drugs were recovered.  


Customs Spokesman Director Sudaththa Silva said the parcels addressed to private consignees in and around Colombo had been sent from the United Kingdom, Canada, the USA, Belgium and the Netherlands.  
The seized narcotics contained Kush weighing 921 grams, Ice weighing 106 grams, one litre of Organic Hemp Oil, 5, 272 tablets of Methamphetamine, 425 stamps of LSD, two grams of Mandy and four grams of Hashish.  
Following the completion of preliminary investigations, the drugs were handed over to the PNB for further inquiries.
