Sri Lanka Customs detected parcels containing psychedelic drugs worth over Rs.60 million sent from the USA, France and Canada at a local courier agency yesterday.
Customs Narcotic Control Unit officials checked seven suspicious packages that had been sent through a courier service to its local office in Seeduwa and found the drugs.
According to Customs Spokesman Senior Director Seevali Arukgoda, the parcels had been addressed to local recipients in Colombo, Maharagama and Piliyandala but the addresses were found to be fake.
The officials found 310 Ecstasy tablets, eight kilogramms of cannabis variety Kush, 300 grams of Mandy and eight grams of Ice inside the parcels.
The seized drugs were to be handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for further investigation.
