Three luxury used cars that were illegally imported to the country were seized by the Customs RTC Personal Baggage Examination Unit, Customs Deputy Director (Legal) and media spokesman Sudatta Silva said

He said the vehicles were imported and packed in containers consigned to several local individuals.

The detection was made following information received by customs intelligence units, the spokesman said.

During the customs investigation, three used cars were found in the containers,  which were shipped from the United Kingdom, he said.

Accordingly, a Mercedes-Benz Maybach,  Audi A1 car and a Fiat were found by the customs officers.
Moreover, he said a stock of liquor bottles and lubricant oil cans were also found with the vehicles.
The customs are conducting further investigations.
