• A seminar will be held at the Parliamentary complex on August 3

The debate on the proposed Kotelawala Defence University Bill to be held on August 6, Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardena said yesterday. 

Mr Gunawardena said a seminar will be held at the Parliamentary complex on August 3 to educate government and opposition members on the proposed Bill.

The legislation is being opposed by university students unions and political parties. The main complaint is that the university will not come under University Grants Commission (UGC). However, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had assured that it will be brought under UGC.
