• His decision to step down would badly affect the way forward in terms of eliminating COVID-19

In the wake of a decision taken by Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama to quit from the Inter-collegiate Technical Committee of the Director General of Health Services, the Health Ministry invited Dr. Wijewickrama to reconsider his decision. Addressing a news briefing, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said yesterday that it would be better if Dr. Wijewickrama reconsidered his decision. 

  “Dr. Wijewickrama has been one of the key medical professionals who immensely rendered his support and advice in the endeavour to battle against COVID-19 pandemic in the country,” he pointed out.  

“His decision to step down would badly affect the way forward in terms of eliminating COVID-19,” Dr. Herath said.   However, he said they would honour his decision as it  was his personal choice.
