• D.J. Palihakkara has been appointed acting senior DIG

Western Province Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon has gone on a 14-day leave, Police said. They said D.J. Palihakkara has been appointed as the acting senior DIG in charge of the Western Province during that period.    

The Attorney General had earlier instructed Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne to transfer Senior DIG Tennakoon in order to ensure there is no interference to the investigations that are underway in connection with the incidents that took place on May 9.
