While taking steps to fill all existing principal vacancies in the school system, the education ministry has taken a decision to digitalize the whole education system by next year, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

He also said that all measures relating to the process have been initiated now.

While attending a ceremony held at D.S.Senanayake College for the recruitment of 4,672 new principals to grade three of the Sri Lanka Principal Service, the Minister said that all funding facilities are being received to implement the programme and relevant measures are being taken now.

The feasibility studies for the digitalizing process will be completed by end of December, he said.

“Along with education reforms, the digitalization process will be implemented in all 1AB and 1C schools by March or April next year as the first phase of the programme,” he said.  The education reforms programme must continue, whatever the difficulties encountered, said Minister Premajayantha.

This is the first time where a large number of principals have been recruited to the school system in Sri Lanka since 2019, the minister said.

He added that there are 808 vacancies in the Education Administration Service and filling 50% of those vacancies have been approved by the Treasury. Accordingly the 404 vacancies will be filled soon.
