Disabled soldier netted for heroin peddling



  • A drug trafficker in Colombo supplies heroin in bulk to the suspect

A former disabled soldier, who had in his possession a  stock of 320 packets of heroin, was arrested by Bandarawela Division  Crime Investigation Bureau during a raid on a house in Bandarawela town  in the early hours of yesterday morning. 

 
Investigations revealed that the 40-year-old suspect from  Ambagasdowa in Welimada had rented a house in Bandarawela town to carry  on the contraband trade.    

Police said a drug trafficker in Colombo supplied bulk stocks of heroin and that the suspect sold them in packets to the  drug addicts for Rs.7,000 each. He had been making packets of heroin at  the time of the raid.   


The suspect who placed packets of heroin near street lamp  posts, near culverts and by the roadsides had informed the buyers with  photos over the phone. Police said he had been carrying on the racket over a period of time.


A police team under OIC Crime Investigation Bureau CI Asoka  Priyantha Herath, including SI Dissanayake, and Sergeant 71832 Janaka  had carried out the raid.
