Don’t hide indoors in fear of facing quarantine formalities: WPC Chief Secy.

People who contract coronavirus in the Colombo district are being requested not to hide in their houses in fear of being taken out of the province to serve quarantine formalities, Western Provincial Council Chief Secretary W.P. Pradeep Yasarathne said yesterday.

Addressing the media he said with the experience the council has had during the previous COVID pandemic situation, people attempted to hide in their houses and took ordinary medications. But as informed by the health authorities, the current virus variant is spreading rapidly and the country is heading towards a critical situation.
Hence, Mr. Yasarathne requested the people in Colombo city limits not to get frightened. “The health sector officials had informed that they already made necessary arrangements to treat them,” he said.

Arrangements have been made to assign the infected people to intermediate camps while keeping them within the Colombo District for treatment, he said.

Therefore, people are requested to give their full support by informing the nearest health official about their health conditions and thereby help control spreading of the virus, Mr. Yasarathne said.
