Dramas in the House during debate on Cricket

Dramas were reported amidst the debate on cricket yesterday as a video of President Ranil Wickremesinghe speaking to the government parliamentary group was leaked to social media last evening.    

President Wickremesinghe was seen telling the group that he will not side with any one when dealing with issues pertaining to cricket. “ I am with those who want to rebuild Sri Lanka’s cricket,” he had said during the meeting.   


Meanwhile Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Nalin Bandara Jayamaha told Daily Mirror that Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena had not followed the advice given to him by the Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera to allow a division.   


A dramatic situation would be a possibility during today’s session because of these developments according to some sources.   


Around 150 members had been present inside the chambers when the debate on the resolution to sack SLC officials came to an end with the notable presence of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. “There was about 150 members present when the debate came to an end with members from both sides being absent. Non participation of Former Ministers of Sports Namal Rajapaksa, Dayasiri Jayasekera and Harin Fernando in the debate was a notable feature
