Drone shot down in Dalada Maligawa vicinity

• A Chinese tourist was arrested on suspicion

A drone was shot down by the Air Force in the Sri Dalada Maligawa vicinity when the first Kumbal procession was parading the streets and a Chinese tourist was arrested on suspicion.   

The 43-year-old suspect had focused the drone on the route of the procession only to be shot down by the Air Force providing protection to the procession. Later the drone found lying about a kilometre away from the Sri Dalada Maligawa was recovered by the officers.  

Investigations revealed that the suspect who had arrived in Sri Lanka on Saturday (19) had been staying at a hotel in Kandy. He was to be produced in court yesterday.
