• Interpol assistance will be sought to take action against the main drug smuggler

A man was arrested with 45 kilos of heroin which has a street value of Rs.450 million during a raid at Rerukana in Bandaragama early last morning.   

The suspect was arrested during a raid carried out by the Colombo Police Narcotics Bureau and the Kalutara Division Crimes unit.  

Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said it is learnt that the drug ring is being operated from the UAE by Kalindu Malsitha alias ‘Panadure Kalindu’.   The consignment was smuggled into the country last months through the sea routes.  

SDIG Rohana said that Interpol assistance will be sought to take action against the main drug smuggler operating from UAE.
