A woman and one of her relatives who attempted to fly to Italy on forged passports and VISAs were arrested last morning by the Border Surveillance Unit of the Department of Immigration and Emigration at the Katunayaka Bandaranaike International Airport.  

The 53 year old woman was from Puttalam and her relative, 23 year old youth,from Marawila in Chilaw. Investigations revealed that they had planned to migrate to Italy through Muscat.  
Under interrogation they stated that they had sold a property and paid Rs.08million to a racketeer to obtain the passport and the VISA documents.  
They were handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further action.
