The government should present the report submitted by the cabinet sub-committee which was appointed to review the report of the presidential commission that probed the Easter Sunday attacks, Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella said yesterday.

Mr. Kiriella told journalists yesterday that he will raise a question in Parliament on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, and will request the government to submit the report of the cabinet sub-committee to the House.
“I will raise this question in Parliament and request the government to present this report so that the MPs could read and find out what the cabinet sub-committee had stated about the report of the Presidential Commission,” Mr. Kiriella said.

“As we have found out this Cabinet sub-committee had diluted the recommendations made by the presidential commission which probed the Easter Sunday attacks.  We have also found out that data pertaining to phone calls that were made by the then head of the intelligence unit have been erased. It was reported that the intelligence Chief had received warnings on the Easter Sunday attacks one month before April 21, 2019, and that he had informed about the impending attacks to certain persons,” he said.
