International assistance should have been sought to probe the Easter Sunday attacks much earlier, the Archdiocese of Colombo said yesterday.
“We noted what the Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe said about the Easter Sunday attack. He said he will seek the assistance of the UK to probe the Easter Sunday attacks and finish up the probe. He continued as the Premier for at least six months after the Easter Sunday attacks. International assistance should have been sought during that period. Therefore, we feel that this is a bid to get political advantage at this decisive period,” member of the communication Unit Colombo Archdiocese Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said.“We are more engaged in resolving the crisis in the nation and are trying to help people who are battered by it. Therefore, one should not talk of Easter Sunday attacks and hoodwink people at a time such as this,” he added.
