Former President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday stressed the need to conduct an international investigation into the exposure of the Easter Sunday attacks by Channel 4 as proposed by the United Nations.  He told reporters that the SLFP was preparing to meet the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka regarding this matter and that a letter is being drafted to be handed over to him.   

“The UN has stressed that an international probe should be conducted regarding the video released by the Channel 4 on the Easter Sunday attacks. We also stress that an international probe should be conducted by the UN,” he said.  

Sirisena said he was taken to task for the last four years over his failure to prevent the attacks and said that he was even sentenced by the courts.  
“Everyone who watches the video will see that what had happened is completely different. Therefore, we are preparing to create a public opinion on this video,” he said.
