Whilst highlighting that a person who has lost his wife in the Easter Sunday bomb attacks had committed suicide, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith once again called for taking action against the Former President, Former Prime Minister and police officers and to carry out more investigations as recommended by the presidential commission which probed the incident.

“The Presidential Commission held former President responsible for not taking action to prevent the attack while it had blamed the former Prime Minister for taking a mild stance on extremism. Also the commission had questioned the action of certain police officers. Therefore we request for further investigations and mete out justice for those who were affected by the attacks,” Cardinal Ranjith said.

“This person committed suicide leaving his children destitute as he was frustrated because justice was not meted out to him,” he added.
