Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, who blamed the present power crisis on over-dependency on fuel, held the engineers of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) responsible for it. Making remarks at various political events in his constituency of Maharagama, the Minister said Sri Lanka’s reliance on fuel for power generation for a prolonged period had resulted in the current crisis.

He said the time is ripe for solar power generation.

“It is time to put up rooftop solar panels. We have to be frugal in our expenses at this time,” he said.
