Eight persons were seriously injured in an attack by a group of armed men at Kondavil in Kopay, Jaffna on Wednesday night, police said. 

The gang with face covers had gathered near a studio in Kondavil and attacked the men with swords and sharp weapons.

According to the police, the mob had cut off the hands of some persons and had fled after setting fire to a nearby three-wheeler and a car, causing severe damage to the studio.

The injured were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital with serious wounds.
The Police launched an investigation to identify and arrest the suspects.
