Homagama Acting Magistrate Priyanka Madduma Patabendi yesterday ordered the police to detain eight suspects arrested in connection with the incident in which a 17-year-old girl was gang-raped. The Hanwella Police sought permission to detain them after producing them before court.  Among the suspects is a person believed to be her lover. She was gang-raped allegedly last Friday on her way back after meeting her lover. She had been taken inside the concrete structure of a crematorium under construction.
