Employees who engage in essential services during the period of travel restrictions, are required to possess a letter or any other document from the head of their institutions in addition to their service ID calling for their service to travel through checkpoints, Police said.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said essential service staffers are required to keep a letter in their possession or on the mobile phone.

Meanwhile, DIG Rohana said the permits which have already been issued to those engaged in delivery of essential goods would be extended till June 7.  He said only pharmacies will be opened during the restriction period.   Economic centres will be opened on May 29, 30 and 31. Those who will be entering and leaving the economic centres are required to produce verification documents to the Police. Also, the vaccination programme will continue, despite the restrictions and people can travel to the nearest centres to get their vaccinations.
