Estimated damages to Galleface by Aragalaya nearly Rs. 6 million

The total damages to Galleface Colombo by the Aragalaya protests last year has been estimated at Rs 5.9 million, Parliament was informed yesterday.  


As per the answer given by the Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, damages to park table and chair sets has been estimated at Rs. 1,480,380 while the damages to benches is estimated at Rs. 162,000, damages to sinks is Rs. 91,000, damages to window panes Rs. 45,000, door locks Rs. 80,000, window locks Rs. 16,000, electric doors Rs. 56,000 and damages to grass is said to be Rs. 1.4 million. The total is said to be Rs. 3.3 million while it comes up to Rs. 5.9 million when the inflation rate is considered.

An inquiry has been conducted by the Chairman Sri Lanka Ports Authority following a request made by the OIC Fort on August 12 last year.  The protestors camped at the Galleface for days calling the camp sight Gota Go Gama last year.
