A high explosive hand grenade was recovered in a lane near Katuwapitiya Church in Negombo, which is also in close proximity to the Negombo Mayor’s residence yesterday.

The road and the adjacent area has been cordoned off temporarily to carry out a search in the area and explore the mysterious package.

The STF and SLAF had defused the HMX type hand grenade and was handed over to the government analyst following a court order.
