Extending of the state of emergency was approved by Parliament without a debate yesterday.    

Accordingly, the proposal presented by Chief Government Whip Susil Premajayantha was approved unanimously by Parliament.   

Emergency was imposed by the incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe last month soon after former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned from office.
