Extra Rs.10 for dollars encashed or remitted Incentive extended for January

The Central Bank will extend the payment of extra premium of Rs. 10 for US dollars converted into rupees for the next month, an official said.   

The Central Bank, initially, offered this incentive for this month for the funds are channeled through the official banking system and accepted channels or converted into rupees during the period December 1 and 31.   
However, Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal told Daily Mirror that the incentive would be offered for the month of January next year.   


Asked about the response of migrant workers to this offer, he said inflows increased substantially in December according to information from the licensed banks. However, he said the exact figures had not yet been calculated.   Also, the Governor said the Central Bank would make a statement shortly outlining the position of the foreign reserves with the latest inflows.
