• Says this would be another phase of the bond scam

Alleging that the frozen assets of Mendis Distilleries are to be released to the company, the Frontline Socialist Party ( FLSP) yesterday said this would be another phase of the bond scam. 

“Millions of funds held by Mendis Distilleries owned by Arjun Aloysius which were frozen after the bond scam was revealed. In addition, its licence was suspended. The license was restored recently. We now hear from reliable sources that funds belonging to Mendis Distilleries which were frozen are to be released. This is the second phase of the Bond scam,” FLSP Education Secretary Pubudu Jayagoda said. 

Meanwhile, he said many important industries including the book publishing and newspaper sector has been hit hard as a result of the government’s decision to curtail imports further,” he said.

“Economy will suffer a further downturn as a result of the importation ban.
