Failure to take correct decisions at the right time and weak management made the Govt. unpopular - SLFP

The failure of the SLPP government to take correct and pragmatic decisions at the right time, unwarranted influence on the decision making and weak management have contributed to make the Gotabaya Rajapaksa regime extremely unpopular among the masses, the SLFP claims.

In a 15 point ‘special resolution’ presented to the government and the people following what it calls ‘a thorough analysis of the multifaceted and highly destabilizing political and economic situation prevalent in the country’ the main constituent partner of the Gotabaya Rajapaksa regime says that the people are not only disappointed, dejected and depressed over the government’s performance but the country has been thrust in to anarchy.
“The brain drain has reached a peak. The covid 19 pandemic is not the only contributory factor to the economic meltdown. However, the invasion of the global epidemic has expedited and exposed the economic crunch. There are many instances where the government has resorted to unscientific or cockeyed methods to control the highly contagious pandemic despite the fact that Sri Lanka is a country with an excellent free healthcare delivery system,” the SLFP charges.

The people were of the view that the government was committed to speedily introduce a new Constitution that would address the pressing problems of the country such as under-development, social justice, law and order.

The SLFP’s stance is that a new Constitution that strengthens the legislature is the need of the hour while finding solutions to all the urgent national issues.
The SLFP in the resolution highlights its concerns over the lack of transparency and accountability in governance and the necessity of restoring of confidence in the government and strict and speedier action against corruption and misdeeds.

The green agriculture is a very important concept. But the extremely shortsighted and haphazard manner it was introduced and activated has created a plethora of problems to farmers compelling them to reject and express their disapproval to this good policy. The idiotic action of the government has not only pushed the entire agriculture system in the country into a abysmal position but endangered the food security in the country. If that is not enough, one of the main commercial crops in the country for decades and the main export crop of Tea is also facing an uncertain future as a result of the wrong fertilizer policy. Other minor crops and export crops are also suffering the same plight.
