Female principal arrested over bribery in Ragama



  • Allegedly demanded bribe to admit student to Grade 1 

Officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested a female principal of a primary school in Ragama for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 150,000.  


According to the Commission, the arrest followed a complaint filed by a woman in Ragama.  


The complainant claimed that the principal had requested the money in exchange for admitting her child to the next year’s Grade 1 class at the school.  The principal was arrested at the school office.  


She was to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court for further proceedings.
