Female students cut school due to high cost of sanitary napkins

  • This has impacted women in rural areas and low income settlements
  • Women politicians and activists not raising concerns on this matter

Professional Forum of Physicians on Medical and Civil Rights chairman Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa said that the increase in prices of sanitary napkins have discouraged female students from going to school during their menstruation period. This has also impacted women in rural areas and low income settlements.

We don’t see women politicians or activists raising concerns on this matter.  Therefore we urge the government to intervene and reduce the prices effectively.
