Few more Cabinet ministers to be appointed next week



  • The government will comprise of 18 Cabinet ministers 
  • The Cabinet of the new government will meet next Monday
  • 25 state ministers to be appointed later

A few more ministers will be appointed to serve in the new government early next week, Daily Mirror learns.   
The government will comprise of 18 Cabinet ministers in addition to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who also retain some portfolios in addition to their respective jobs.  
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa is tipped to be appointed State Minister of Finance.   


 Besides, there are plans to appoint around 25 state ministers. However, it will take another couple of weeks to do it.  

 The Cabinet of the new government will meet next Monday. According to informed sources, President Rajapaksa will present a Cabinet paper seeking approval for the introduction of the 21st Amendment to the Constitution pruning some of his powers to be vested with Parliament. It will virtually be the re-introduction of the 19th Amendment enacted during the time of the Yahapalana government.
