• Around 39 Parliament staff members have tested positive this year

The total number of MPs who have contacted COVID-19 since the pandemic hit the nation reached 50 with MP Dilan Perera becoming positive yesterday.   

MP Perera is the 15 MP to be tested positive for COVID-19 within the last five weeks.  It was also reported that around 39 members of Parliament staff has been tested positive this year.  Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana who was also tested positive for COVID-19 did not participate in yesterday’s sessions.
