Fire breaks out on the Podimenike Express



 

  • The rear engine in the train comprising two engines had caught fire when it was approaching Haputale Railway Station

A fire broke out in the rear engine of the Colombo bound Podimenike Express from Badulla last morning. The train was packed to capacity at the time of the incident, but nobody was hurt.  

A senior official of Haputale Railway Station said the rear engine in the train comprising two engines had caught fire as it was approaching the station.   

The fire brigade of the Haputale Ceylon Petroleum Corporation unit rushed to the scene and doused the fire with the help of the police and station staff.
