First generator of Norochcholai resumes operation

  • CEB assures no changes in the daily two hour and 20 minute long power cuts

Generator one of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant has been added to the National Grid last night, the Ceylon Electricity Board said. The first generator was shut down on December 23, last year to manage the coal stocks and for maintenance purposes.

It was planned to obtain the 300 megawatts of electricity that will be lost by shutting down the generator in question from the Kerawalapitiya power plant, a Spokesperson said.

CEB assured, however, that there will be no changes in the daily two hour and 20 minute long power cuts.
