Five year no pay leave won’t apply for teachers, health sector etc: official



  • The circular for long-term leave would be introduced purely for the government to dispense with excess staff of various institutions
  • It would not apply to essential categories of employees required for the country

The government circular that provides for five-year no pay leave for public servants will not apply for categories such as school teachers, health sector employees and technical services, an official said . 

   Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration M. M. P. K. Mayadunne told Daily Mirror this circular for long-term leave would be introduced purely for the government to dispense with excess staff of various institutions.   


Otherwise, he said it would not apply to essential categories of employees required for the country.  


“We are in the process of working out this circular now,” he said.
