Flying kites near airports, a punishable offence



 

  • Flying kites within five kilometres of an airport could cause damage to aircraft, causing even plane crashes

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited yesterday said, in its public awareness poster, said flying kites within a radius of five kilometres from any airport was illegal and a punishable offence and requested people to refrain from such acts.  


In the poster, it said flying kites within five kilometres of an airport could cause damage to aircraft, causing even plane crashes.  


It said flying kites in the area close to the 14 airports in Sri Lanka has been restricted.
