Four more vehicles belonging to Dematagoda Ruwan and his brother seized

The Criminal Investigations Department's Illegal Assets and Property Investigation Division seized four more vehicles worth over Rs. 80 million belonging to Ruwan Chamila Prasanna alias Dematagoda Ruwan and Dematagoda Chaminda who are serving death sentences for the murder of former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra. 

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said the officers recovered a land rover jeep and a vezel belonging to Dematagoda Ruwan.  While a BMW vehicle and a Land Cruiser belonging to Dematogoda Chaminda's wife was also seized.


Earlier, the CID arrested Dematagoda Ruwan under the Money Laundering Act. They also recovered four luxury vehicles worth over Rs. 180 million during a raid at the suspect's house at Veluwana Terrace, Dematagoda.
The Police also seized one and a half kgs of gold during the raid.


Police suspect that the vehicles and gold jewellery were allegedly purchased with the money earned from drug peddling


Preliminary investigations have revealed that Dematagoda Ruwan had smuggled over 1,000 kilos of drugs into the country during previous years.


He was remanded till November 5 after being produced before the Colombo Magistrate's Court
