Fourth World Children’s Peace Summit in Tokyo Student representing SL wins award for the best speech

Bringing repute to Sri Lanka a Grade 12 student of Veyangoda Bandaranaike Madya Maha Vidyalaya S.R. Kasmira Jayaweera who represented Sri Lanka at the Fourth World Children’s Peace Summit in Tokyo in Japan on August 01, has won the “Most Peaceful Speech Award” for the best speech.  


 Several countries including America, England, France, Australia, Pakistan, Germany, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Kenya, Congo and Brazil had been represented at the summit.   
 She had highlighted how children’s leadership and their role could be instrumental in establishing world peace through education and the study of languages. It is a special feat that Kasmira Jayaweera could outdo them all.   


 The teachers and the deputy principal of Bandaranaike Madya Maha Vidyalaya, several students of the school, and her father’s fellow officers of Katunayake Airport Fire Brigade received her at the airport on her arrival in the country on Monday night (07),   


 Principal of the school Samira Somaratne said she would be felicitated at the school today.
