Fuel distribution resumes after three days



  • Nearly 600 bowsers and 5 trains with fuel transporting wagons will be engaged in transporting fuel across the country

Following the recent volatile situation after the hike in fuel prices, the fuel transport by railway wagons and bowsers resumed yesterday after a brief lapse of three days, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.   

While paying a sudden visit to the Kolonnawa Installation of the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd. yesterday, he said fuel transportation was suspended due to recent roadblocks and the unhealthy atmosphere that prevailed while transporting fuel to various parts of the country.   


He told the media that the Ministry has taken measures to provide security to fuel transporting bowsers and ensured 24-hour delivery while restoring the fuel supply in the next few days.   


The Minister added that nearly 600 bowsers and five trains with fuel transporting wagons will be engaged in taking fuel across the country.
