The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s court yesterday ordered to revoke the travel ban imposed on Western Province Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon in connection with the magisterial inquiry into the Galle Face attack.

The Court had earlier issued an order preventing Senior DIG Tennakoon from leaving the country regarding the mob attack that took place at Temple Trees and Galle Face on May 9, 2022.  A lawyer who appeared on behalf of Tennakoon moved court to revoke the travel ban imposed against his client since he was not made as a suspect in the case.

Accordingly, the Colombo Fort Magistrate ordered the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration to immediately revoke the travel ban. The impounded passport was ordered to be released to the Senior DIG.
