Gas price hike attributed to costs in world market



  • The new retail price of a 12.5kg cylinder of gas is now Rs. 3,565

The cooking gas prices were increased yesterday due to the rise in international LP gas prices in November, the depreciation of the rupee and the rise in other costs, Litro Gas chairman Muditha Peiris said.   


However, he stated that his company has thus far been able to maintain the prices of domestic LP gas at a lower level due to strategic planning in placing orders and management of stock.  

The price of a cylinder of 12.5 kg Litro domestic LP gas was increased by Rs. 95 with effect from yesterday, .   


Accordingly, the new retail price of a 12.5kg cylinder of gas is now Rs. 3,565.   


The 5 kg cylinder of gas (Rs. 1,395) has been increased by Rs. 38, and its new retail price is Rs. 1,431. The 2.3 kg cylinder of gas has been increased by Rs. 18, and the new retail price has gone up to Rs. 668.
