• LITRO says no supply after today’s distribution

A freighter carrying gas was expected to arrive in Colombo yesterday, a senior official of the LAUGFS Gas Lanka said.

 He said the LAUGFS gas supply had not been done for more than three months due to the fact that the company had been unable to get down the stocks with the current dollar crunch.

 “We are in the process of finalising the payment for the consignment. No sooner the ship arrives, we will inform our valued customers,” he said.

 The company requested the consumers not to wait in queues to buy domestic gas cylinders.
 Meanwhile, the LITRO Gas Lanka Ltd yesterday said that they will not supply gas until further notice due to shortage and urged people not to wait in queues, a LITRO official said.

 After releasing 16,000 gas cylinders yesterday, the gas distribution will resume upon a shipment is brought.  A senior official said gas cylinder distribution will resume most likely next Tuesday (7).
