Gazette to display details of commercial goods, retail price issued



  • The direction will come into effect on July 28

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) had issued an extraordinary gazette notification announcing that all details pertaining to the commercial goods and commodities must be displayed for the benefit of the consumers. The gazette notification (2286/26) was issued by the chairman of the CAA, Shantha Niriella. 

As per the gazette, the CAA directs all importers, producers, manufacturers, warehouse owners, distributors, packers, online traders. Also, the traders who do not import, produce, manufacture, store, distribute, pack, repack, sell, or display for sale, expose for sale, or offer for sale unless the following details are legibly printed or affixed by non-removable label in a conspicuous place on the pack, wrapper, or container of the end product of the commercial goods purchased by the consumer at the retail price.
