Germany will explore potential for cooperation with Sri Lankan partners for the development of renewable energy sector and improvement of energy efficiency, an official said.
On the recent occasion of a virtual meeting with a German Business delegation, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) organized a conference on Energy Efficiency and Self- sufficiency in Industry to promote opportunities of cooperation in the field of energy efficient solutions. Chief Delegate of AHK Sri Lanka Andreas Hergenröther said, “In 2020 45.4 percent of Germany’s electricity production was generated from renewables. With regards to energy efficiency in industry and buildings, Germany has become a globally recognised leader. For many years German companies have been leading worldwide solution providers in different areas of energy efficiency and renewable energies,”
He said he was ‘ very pleased’ to welcome a very innovative and diversified German business delegation providing key solutions in the fields of inverter technology, storage/battery technologies, waste to energy including planning and implementation of turnkey projects, digital monitoring of heat exchanger systems and solar water treatment systems as well as Solar Water filtration and disinfection.
I am convinced there is a huge potential for cooperation with Sri Lankan partners, which will be explored during the upcoming days,” he said. The conference was opened by State Minister of Solar, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development Duminda Dissanayake, German Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Holger Seubert and Mr. Hergenröther.
