An instance where it is suspected that glue has been applied to hide a crack of an egg was reported from Kegalle yesterday.
This was revealed by a Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) organizer of Deraniyagala Ranjith Polgampola during a press briefing he had together with SJB MP Buddhika Pathirana at the Opposition leader’s office.
“A rough line which is about three millimetres wide was seen on the surface of the egg. This line was rough while the rest of the surface was smooth as usual.

I bought ten eggs from a retail chain outlet in Kegalle on Sunday and found one egg to be unusual. It had a band on it which was rough and seemed like glue. We suspect that glue has been used to hide cracks on the egg. This particular egg is heavier than the others. I call upon the Consumer Affairs Authority to carry out an investigation on it,” he said. He said he was to hand over the egg to the Consumer affairs Authority to determine the truth.
MP Pathirana said a scientific experiment is a must to determine the truth. “We don’t know what is inside the egg. Therefore a scientific experiment has to be carried out to determine the truth,” he said.
The egg was handed over to the Consumer Affairs Authority later during the day.
