• Says SC decision proved that truth will prevail someday overpowering any financial, political or media power

The Supreme Court decision on Duminda Silva further proved that former president Gotabaya Rajapaksa failed in all what he did during his two year tenure where he even failed to exercise powers vested in him to grant Presidential Pardon, former MP and daughter of the late Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra said yesterday.  

She told a news conference that Gotabaya Rajapaksa was so ignorant so as to even not adopt the due procedure in granting a Presidential Pardon.  

Premachandra said Gotabaya Rajapaksa gave into pressure by Duminda Silva’s faction and signed the document to grant Duminda Presidential Pardon and ultimately ended up being humiliated.  

She said the Supreme Court decision also proved that truth will prevail someday overpowering any financial, political or media power.  

When asked what if the next president-elect would grant him Presidential Pardon again, she said she would never think the next president would do something of the sort to be humiliated again.
